The Welcome to a day of beauty to be captured in your camera! This Safari is truly a journey which will inspire AND tire you out! On this expedition, led by creative photographer Michael Rosenberg, you will explore the movement of water rushing down the side of a mountain through Deep Hollow Falls in the Shenandoah Valley. Then you will bask in the magnificence of a mountaintop sunset overlooking the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

This Safari is limited to four (4) photographers and the instructor. Not for the weak or the meek, it involves a one-mile hike down the side of the mountain and an arduous trek back to the top. There is a well-defined trail, but at times it can be quite steep. The journey down the mountain will only take half an hour unless we run into wildlife photo ops. (They occur frequently.) The trek up the hill will take about an hour with several rest breaks, because the instructor is older than he used to be!

While we are at the base of the falls, we will explore the area around the falls and you will be shown how to shoot time exposures with ND (Neutral Density) Filters. ND filters allow photographers to keep the shutter open longer to capture the movement of the water without having to overexpose the shot, thus allowing us to create smooth flowing water in our images of the stream.

From here you will proceed to a mountaintop glade in the Big Meadow area for a spectacular vista of the Shenandoah Valley and creation of our magnificent sunset images. Michael will show you how to take advantage of the low angle of the sun for colorful images which will inspire your friends and have them gaping in awe at your creative abilities. With your tripods, he will also show you how to create magnificent panoramas of the mountains and the valley below by overlapping exposures for a seamless image which you can meld together in your computer graphics programs.

After the sunset we can stop for dinner at Big Meadow or conclude with a leisurely drive back to the DC area. Limited to 4 photographers.
